LNG TMS

Advanced LNG tank solution for reliable data monitoring and safe management
The LNG Tank Management System (TMS) is a comprehensive solution for LNG tank storage and management systems that provides real‑time access to critical tank data through a web‑based graphical interface. The solution is designed to integrate seamlessly with all relevant measuring instruments and monitoring systems in LNG terminal environments, regardless of brand or configuration.
Batenburg LC has more than 60 installations worldwide, monitoring over 15 million m³ of LNG storage capacity. Through close collaboration with Engie’s Global R&D Crigene Technology R&D Center, a high‑quality module has been developed for stratification detection and rollover prediction, effectively controlling the operational risks associated with LNG rollover events.

Why LNG TMS?

Why LNG TMS?

  • Vital tank data in real time
LNG TMS provides reliable, real‑time insight into all key tank parameters such as level, density and temperature. This data is immediately accessible through a clear interface, enabling faster and more accurate decision‑making.
  • Platform‑independent web interface
The application runs entirely through a web browser, giving you access from any location, on any device, without complex installations.
  • Flexible and scalable
Thanks to its modular design, LNG TMS can be easily configured for a wide range of LNG terminal setups. You can start with basic functionality and expand modules later as needs grow.
  • Seamless integration with instrumentation and systems
LNG TMS can connect with all common tank‑gauge systems, LTDs and process control systems (DCS/PLC/SCADA). This offers maximum freedom in the choice of hardware and measurement solutions.

BOG Loss Calculator Module

BOG stands for Boil‑Off Gas. It is the gas that forms when a small portion of liquefied natural gas (LNG) evaporates due to heat ingress from the outside, for example through tank walls or piping.

This evaporation is unavoidable, even in well‑insulated LNG tanks. The BOG that is generated increases the pressure inside the tank and must therefore be vented, reused, or re‑condensed. If this is not done efficiently, BOG leads to energy losses and economic losses.
Our BOG Loss Calculator helps by:
  • Providing insight into how costly this is in practice
  • Providing insight into the associated energy loss
  • Providing quantified insight into the economic impact

Training and expertise

In close collaboration with Engie’s Global R&D Crigene Technology R&D Center, LC has developed a software program for stratification detection and rollover prediction and alarm, called “LNG Expert®.” It is the only truly validated advanced control module based on more than 50 years of experience with LNG behavior in real processes.
We offer in‑depth training on LNG behavior and methodology. Topics include LNG thermodynamics, aging during loading/unloading, BOG generation, stratification analysis, and rollover risks. The training is practice‑oriented and can be tailored to any situation.
Our approach

Our approach

In 2005, Batenburg LC delivered its first LNG rollover prediction and alarm system in South Korea. In 2006, our “LNG TMS” system was also installed in China’s first LNG import terminal. The global demand for LNG has been growing rapidly, and since then Batenburg LC has expanded its customer base and built a strong track record, resulting in an impressive list of more than 60 installations worldwide, monitoring over 20 million m³ of LNG storage capacity.

At Batenburg LC, we combine technological expertise and operational experience to implement LNG TMS effectively within your organization.

Our activities include installation, configuration, and commissioning, as well as maintenance and support services through Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Our SLA is an annual contract designed to ensure that our customers receive the level of support needed to keep their LNG TMS performing as reliably as possible.

Software Level Agreement

  • Software Upgrades
Upgrades to the latest version at any time, subject to annual renewal.
  • Software Patches
Hot fixes and updates for the current software version, e.g., LNG TMS Version 9.X.X.
  • Remote technical support during local (NL) office hours.
  • Access to Windows Patches
  • The SLA is a mechanism for remote support and therefore does not cover on‑site escalations. If on‑site support is required, separate arrangements can be made.
