Intership of Danai Elna Muchapireyi
How did you end up with Batenburg as an internship company?
Batenburg is involved with the Twente University HyDriven team. They were advertising together with team on the university campus and I had the opportunity to talk to one of the representatives about the possibility of a thesis assignment. They helped refer me to someone who was working on a project that aligned with my interests in User Experience design.
Why exactly did you choose Batenburg?
I chose Batenburg because it presented an opportunity to work in the automation industry from a design perspective. They also offered full creative freedom during the project instead of simply giving instructions which would give me real life working experience.
What was your mission statement?
My mission statement was: To design a data analysis application for process optimization.
What did you end up delivering?
The end result of my thesis assignment is an application prototype for their process engineers to conduct data analysis.
What did you think of Batenburg as an internship company?
In my opinion, Batenburg Bellt is an ideal company to intern for. Students are given room to use the skills they developed throughout their bachelor degree and their knowledge and expertise will be acknowledged and taken into account. As an interning company, Batenburg offers a balance for students between independence to solve real life problems and mentorship from experts in the field whenever you hit a wall.
Would you recommend Batenburg to other students? And if so, why?
I would happily refer other students to intern at Batenburg. They take the time to find the right project for you based on interest and field of study. Despite being a student, your input will be valued as much as other project members giving students a chance to make a real difference. I was initially hesitant to intern for the company due to possible challenges that could come with being an international student in a Dutch workplace. Fortunately, it is a welcoming environment where colleagues actively include students, including international ones, through combined activities with colleagues.
