A piece of Batenburg inside Spierings’ crane cabins

A workplace where safety and comfort take center stage

Tower cranes are a familiar sight on construction sites and other projects where work is carried out at great heights. Less visible is the operator who, high above the ground, controls the lifting process from within the crane cabin. Today, that cabin is no longer just a functional space, but a fully equipped workplace where safety and comfort take center stage, especially as projects become more complex and maneuvering space becomes limited.

Spierings Mobile Cranes reflects this changing reality in the design of its mobile tower cranes. Within that design, the consoles and control solutions supplied by Batenburg Applied Technologies play an important role. The collaboration goes back many years and has evolved into a trusted partnership in which expertise and practical experience in HMI solutions and other technologies come together.

Where comfort was once considered a secondary concern, it has now become one of the most important factors for operator performance. Spierings continuously addresses this in its cabin designs through measures such as noise reduction, climate control and optimized sightlines. They know a comfortable working environment supports sustained concentration and safe lifting operations.

Batenburg also places the operator at the center of its HMI projects. Whether it involves custom armrest consoles and joysticks for crane applications or fully equipped operator seats for industrial machinery, the focus remains the same.

The company’s extensive experience with industrial controllers, operator seating and the integration of control elements forms the foundation of its collaboration with OEM customers such as Spierings. The result is a modern and ergonomic solution that ensures a comfortable working posture and precise machine control.

A partner that looks beyond the individual components

The armrest consoles and joysticks used in Spierings’ tower cranes were developed in close collaboration with the engineers of Batenburg Applied Technologies. From the earliest design phase, attention was given to ergonomics, functionality and ease of integration within the available cabin space. The result is a console design that suits the current generation of cranes while also providing opportunities for future developments.

The foldable console design increases freedom of movement inside the cabin while maintaining ergonomics and ease of operation. Together with Batenburg, the customer develops a control solution tailored to the specific application, ranging from connectivity and branding to button layouts and joystick configurations.
